Re: buying the latest electronics

Maybe it's the old thing where some people think --- there is always something bigger and better and they are afraid they will miss out if they don't get the latest version of the phone, or whatever electronic gadget it is.

Myself, I am not electronic gadget inclined.  At all.  I think it is all very fascinating but like some foreign language.  I always say that I need to rent a child or teen to get me somewhat up to speed on what these things are, how to work them and what all they do!

For starters, I do not have the $$$ to run out and buy all these things.  For another, I just don't have a need for them.  And another, I don't want to invest the time to mess with them all the time.

Would I like to be more knowledgable about these things and perhaps possess some of them?  Yes, I would.  But even if I had more $$$ and time, I still don't think I would be in a hurry to get each new gadget and/or version as soon as it comes out.

I had an old Motorola flip phone for probably 16 years and it was still working fine.  Then they notified me that they were sending me a new one because changes in technology would not support the old phone.  So, I have a new flip phone by LG.  It works well as I rarely use a cell phone.  I never texted in my life and wouldn't know the first thing about it.  I would like to have this capability and know how to do this.  Maybe some day!

I think if you have the $$$ and it makes you happy, go for it.

The price of $1,000 or whatever just seems so high for a phone though.  This is not something which I could afford I know that much.

As someone trying to adapt to a new device,I say keep what you have.  My Kindle took a bath and never recover so I had to replace it.  This thing keeps telling he to select the Reading View Icon. Wish I knew where it is😕

Re: buying the latest electronics

I don't even have a smart phone, so I am obviously not into buying every new electronic device that comes down the pike.  I am posting here on my iPad3 - an oldie.

This year, I will be getting a new iPad since I can no longer do iOS updates and maybe an iPhone.
