Yearly reminder if you've bought someone a game console for Xmas

If you're one of the lucky few who stumbled upon a game console this year and bought it for a family member, it's wise to unbox it, connect it to your Internet and update it before Christmas morning. The console maker's servers get clobbered on Christmas as hundreds of thousands of new console owners must update their devices all at once. If you update the consoles in advance, you can avoid hours of a frustrated family member staring at a slowly advancing update bar.

If you've bought them a game or two or three, installing and updating them is wise also. Many games are unplayable until updated, so by doing so early, you can avoid a lot of frustration later. With everything updated, it's simply a matter of plugging in the console and connecting the HDMI cable and your family member is good to go. If it's not all updated, you could be looking at a frustrated family member pacing the floor for hours.

yes and computers too.   I bought a new computer in august from a big box retailer frequently mentioned in the forums and it was dead on arrival.   I got it on thursday and took it back sunday.   and got another one that works  I tried to get support from the computer's cs but could not either on the phone or online just going around in circles
