Windows XP to Windows 7

I am about to have a techie switch me from Windows XP to Windows 7, since Microsoft isn't going to be supporting XP that much longer. What caveats should I worry about? Will all files be accessible pretty much the same way? Will I have to reload anything for peripherals? (for example, GPS, camera, etc.)? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
