IMHO, I would not use a Windows 7 computer that is connected to the internet for anything.

You may want to ask an IT friend or associate about how to keep your data safe.

Well I decided to unplug my desktop with Windows 7 which I use when I'm in the basement. I have a small Etsy business (which is very slow this time of year) and just may close it for the next week or two.

I ordered a new computer with Winodws 10 yesterday and it should arrive by 1/24. DS will come home that weekend and help me set it up.

Right now I'm on my MacBook Air.

Hate to tell you this there is nothing to update. You can not update on software that will not be supported. Your computer will be infected with virus and malware. There will be no more updates for windows 7.

@apple1964 Agreed! I purchased a new computer yesterday....the current one will be unplugged today. Thank goodness it's not my only computer.

Last week I was looking at monitors on the Dell site. I said, why are there so many ultra sharp displays with good prices . The panel makers changed the aspect ratio on all products in 2012 from 16x10 to 16x9 . Gamers do not need extra wide viewing area or more pixels.

I have premium ultra sharp display with the l6x10 AR that displays 1 billion colors. A current product in this series is the UP2516D. Where the p stands for premium. I usually am able to find a sale on a display.

When you decide to upgrade your CPU, the i5-9400 processor is fine for a desktop or the i5-9300 In laptop.

Dell has a Vostro small business laptop with a combination of decent specs. This product would be a nice guide to use when buying a new system.

Thank you so much for this link. It worked! Followed all the prompts, and it took approximately 2+ hrs to convert from Windows7 to Windows 10 & download everything. Actually, the computer did all the work. Whew, glad that is behind me. Thanks again.

Hi @haddon9 .. I had a Dell desk top computer for my office that ran WIndows 7. The computer was about 6 years old. It worked fine but I really have to be concerned with security. My IT person told me that he would have to check my computer for compatibility with Windows 10... not all are. Since the computer was getting old, I opted for a new computer. I had it installed 2 - 3 weeks ago.

@Boehm Collector I also felt that it was time for a new computer since mine (also a Dell) is around 5 years old. I should have done what you did and get the new one the beginning of the month for a smoother transition but I was still recuperating from the holidays.

I ended up ordering a new computer two days ago and it should arrive within the next week or so. DS will help to install it. Right now I'm on my Macbook Air laptop and won't use the old Dell.

@haddon9 ... I only use the Dell in my office. At home I have all Apple Products. My MacBook Pro is 7 years old so I will probably get a new one within the next year or so.
