Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

I had 2 weeks of aggravation as Windows 10 started to install without my permission, I stopped it. It took @Gokat and lots of patience with me to finally right my Windows 7!

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

@spent2much, you're welcome!  When I saw the article this afternoon, I thought I read it wrong and went back to reread it.  I don't think I'll ever trust Microsoft to do the right thing at the outset -- NOT when they get caught and get sued.  I'm glad the plaintiff won.  Microsoft caused so much angst for so many Windows users who were either not ready to upgrade (like me) or didn't want to.

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

I had it for a couple of days.  Hated it, totally different feel to 8.1 which I'm very comfortable with.  DId a recovery back to a date when I did not have it, worked out perfectly and back to 8.1.

Do not feel forced to allow 10 to download.  Do it only if you really want it, and then y ou may feel the same as many others, you've canged your mind and really don't want it.  You have fixes to get rid of it.

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

Between this and Microsoft's incompentance with their automatic updates, they lost me as a customer.  I needed a new computer but instead of a new Windows computer, I just switched to Apple and got an iPad instead.  I miss some things about a full computer, but not enough to ever get another one--especially not Windows-based.

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

Ditto to a few of the latest posts.  Not only has my computer been slow, I now can't get into my emails.  It keeps saying that my password and my email address don't match.  Want me to 'reset' my password.  I don't trust MS and also my provider.  I've had the same password for years and have not forgotten it whatsoever.  I was going to take my computer to the computer repair dept. and send the bill to MS.  But, now I'm thinking of cancelling my phone, my internet service and going to an Apple or a Google powered device.  One of the shopping channels offered a few days ago a tablet or something that is powered by Google.  It really 'irks me' that I can't get into my emails, and I'm not going to spend all day long tomorrow dealing with some rep. on the phone, asking me 'this and that'.  It's totally ridiculous and such a waste of customers' time.  If you don't hear from me, I'm fine, and I've probably cancelled 'everything' that has to do with phones and with computers.  I'll be back on my Apple or my Google powered contraption, whatever that is, in a few weeks or months, depending how happy and peaceful I am without dealing with such nonsense.  Happy July 4th, and may we have peace of mind and safety always.

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

The news about the lady who won 10K was in the NY Times news and other local newspapers in our country.  She lost a lot of business, and when I searched the Web, others lost business time and money, including realtors.  I believe the articles were on June 28 or so.  It's such a disgrace, a large, supposidly half-way 'intelligent' company, doing things ahead of time and basically ruining customers' days and peace of mind.   .............. BTW, I was typing this post, and then, out of the clear blue, there were a couple of 'ding-tones' and my post disappeared.   Now it's back because of autosave.  Anyway, I'm fairly sure that I'm going to cancel everything at my local provider's store, including my landline.  We'll see if I change my mind tomorrow morning.  Childish MS allegedly has no business being in business, not only imo, but the opinions of many people I know.

Re: Windows 10 Forced Update

p.s.  If our phone providers 'get wind' of what MS has done to prompt many of us to cancel our provider's services, just maybe they will put 'pressure' on the culprit.  It takes a village (not just one person) to correct childish company behavior.

Why don't you do a system restore to a time before Windows 10 was installed instead of claiming some type of conspiracy?
