@timeless

Did you use any special kind of cleaning solution inside the bot or can I just use water?

@SilleeMee I don't own a smart phone. Is that going to be a problem?

The company that makes the WinBot wants you to sign up for their app, but when my husband started it on his phone, they asked for all sorts of information that he decided not to give them.  He deleted the app and we used the bot with no need for the app on our part.

Occasionally, if the bot got "stuck" (like when I had it behind my blinds and one blind wasn't turned correctly to give it the most room), it would stop and say please go to the app for help.

Completely not needed, because I just pushed the start button and turned it off and then repositioned the blind and the bot and started it back up.  No problem.

That was the only time the app was mentioned for us, anyway.

I don't know what other reasons could arise that would require actually using the app. The bot runs without it.

Also, I wanted to say that we did clean some of our windows inside and outside. (I don't think I made that clear.) Specifically, we did the clerestory windows, and they turned out very clean.  We had to go over them a few times, however, because they were extremely cloudy.  The other windows I have yet to do outside have chunky bits I want to rinse off first.  Anyway, I hope I'm making sense here!  lol

I hope you'll let me know how it works for you if you get it.  I'm glad we bought ours.  Smiley Happy

We used the cleaning solution that came with the bot, but we know we will run out before all the windows are finished.

I haven't tried using just water, so don't know.  I would think if it was water that is not hard, it would be okay, but hard water only might calcify inside the bot, so I'd avoid using it and maybe use distilled/bottled water if I had to.

I don't plan to try water only. I'm going to use a mix of 70% isopropyl alcohol and water. Definitely not using Windex.  That isn't very good window cleaning solution, imo.

Thank you! I'm adding some extra pads to my order plus I will pick up some distilled water, too.

I bought it! I got the mini from amazon on sale for 170. I'm going to do the insides first, like you did, so I can get the hang of it...no pun intended...lol! What I'm concerned with is if the thing decides to stop right in the middle of an outside window...then what? I guess I can pull it off using the safety cord...?? and then start over. 🤷

If your window is clear of obstacles, I can't think why it would stop mid-window.

Really,  I think the safety cord is mostly for those people who live in a high-rise building and can access the outside of their windows.  Or maybe someone who lives on the third floor of a condo and can open the window to the outside?

As a single-story dweller, I haven't needed the safety cord.

I've noticed when the WinBot is finished cleaning or has a "problem", it stays suctioned to the window until you come to release it by the on/off button.

Since the power cord and the safety cord need to be non-restricted for the bot to clean, closing a window might restrict the bot's movements unless the cords are placed all the way outside the window before closing it. Window has to be closed in order for the bot to clean it. Then if it decides to fall of my second story window I think it might hit the ground b/c the cords are long enough to get there.  My second story windows are not truly on a second story but rather at 1-1/2 stories up but high enough where I can't reach them w/o a ladder (no way). My house is on a garden-level foundation so the upper windows are not that high up. I'll just have to wait and see but that's what is bothering me the most about the bot.

So much for asking a dumb question, huh? Your question has definitely stirred up interest and especially for @SilleeMee who actually purchased based on you recommendation.

I live in a condo where the outside windows are done professionally and paid for by our HOA. We can hire the same company to do our interior windows, but my husband must like washing windows because it seems he is always doing so. This year it was one week before our scheduled window washing and there he is outside doing our balcony windows.🥴

We have high ceilings with very large windows in our condo. There might come a time when he falls out of love with this chore or simply can no longer do so. Your information is invaluable. Thank you.
