Will this work on a boat?

Considering getting this for my brother for his birthday. He is an avid fisherman, hunter etc.

His cell has internet etc...I have glaucoma so trying to read through all this is a bit much. I thought he might enjoy this on his boat right now-does a lot of overnight fishing. With being able to read his Outdoor Magazines, facebook, games etc..I wanted to know if it will work on his boat? Thanks for any info you can give me...
