I was out of my den for a while and when I returned my computer monitor had instead of the screen saver on it it had blue and green blurry wide stripes all over it off and on, couldn't get it to stop so I had to manually turn my computer off.It is not even a year old this happened once before a couple of days ago I am stumped as to why, does any one have any ideas not too technical please ? I searched on line but nothing similar to my situation.

The same thing has happened to me........and my computer is less than a year old. I also had to manually reboot. Don't have a clue why this has happened, either.

Hi @nafecar,
If you can give us a little more information about your monitor, perhaps we can try and help you.
We would need to know what kind of monitor it is, like the brand and the model number, and the size. That would help us to see if there is any kind of info. out there on it. ![]()

This is a computer issue and not a monitor issue. Your computer crashed and needs rebooting. It's nothing terribly drastic and you don't have to worry about it unless it occurs frequently. Just reboot and you should be back in business.

Hi @gardenman,
The last time that I had one acting "wacky" on us with different colors on the screen, it was about to go to the "monitor graveyard in the sky!" ![]()
Not to scare Nafey or anything like that...
Hopefully hers will be alright. ![]()

"It is not even a year old"
Then it should be still under warranty. I would not try to do any DIY stuff. YOU could be blamed for whatever is wrong. Call HP technical support. Explain to them that you want them to instruct you in laymens terms as you are not all that techy.
Write down their instructions.
Get the name(s) of everyone you speak too.
Note the time you spoke w/the support staff.
**Stay on the phone w/the support tech while you are trying to troubleshoot.**
Good luck!

Hi Nafey,
Here is a link to HP's Customer Support website, if you want to take a look at it:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph05236#AbT5
There are different things that you can try doing, to check your monitor.
One of the things that you can try doing is to shut your computer down and try starting it up again, like gardenman recommended.
Another thing that you can try doing is resetting the monitor to factory default settings, by pressing the Menu button that is on the monitor itself. If you aren't sure about what to do and would like to try and see if something works to try and fix the situation from the support list, I would ask someone that you know to help you.
I'm used to troubleshooting things on my own computers, so trying different things to try and fix something doesn't bother me in particular, but I understand if things like this makes others hesitant.
As Mzimac said too, the monitor is still under warranty, so if it turns out that it is defective, I would think that it would be covered by the warranty.
