Thanks for posting all the info. I have saved all of it so I can check it out later. Don't know if we qualify but I doubt it. My MIL, a SIL, sister & brother would qualify so I will let them know.

I didn't think I would qualify either. But I applied anyway and my application was approved instantly...no questions asked about my income. I thought is was strange that they didn't ask for it because I thought the service was for low income only, but apparently it is not. So it won't hurt to apply even if you think you won't qualify.

You can use your cell phone as a data hotspot.  Don't do this unless you have an unlimited plan or you will use it very infrequently.  Monitor your data usage on the phone.

@Peaches McPhee Again, I am not a techie regarding this but Sprint has zero service where my mom is.  I have to use a Roaming $$$.  Is your suggestion still applicable?  Thank you!

No, I think you'll need to be able to access cell phone service with your phone in order for this to work.   You are right - roaming = $$$$$.
