151949, I don't think OP is telling anyone what to buy. She's simply stating her preference for Apple products and her reasoning.
Most who have responded have also stated their preference for certain products,
Cha1k, I think it's awesome that you teach people how to use Apple products!

@debic - that is so true! Many times people stick with what they use at work. That's what happened to me. Started using Apple computers back in the days of the old IIe, moved up to the Mac and eventually bought one for home.
Those who are super tech savvy, like you son, prefer devices that they can customize to their liking. Android is an OS that allows them to do that. On the other side of the spectrum are those who aren't at all interested in customization so Apple's OS might appeal to them.

@HonnyBrown - Thank you so much for the nice comments.
I have to admit that I do training classes for some selfish reasons. When I retired from teaching I realized that I didn't necessarily miss the kids -- 34 years was long enough to wrangle a room full of teenagers ![]()
What I did miss was the 'teaching' and since one of my hobbies is learning about technology I decided to ask the library if they would like a volunteer to do some teaching.
I've met some absolutely amazing people doing this and will continue for as long as my old brain can handle the changes in tech....which is another reason I do it.....trying to keep that old brain from going south.

You taught teenagers for 34 years!? I think you are an angel.
How do you keep up with Apple technology? They come out with new products every year.

Taught home ec for 34 years and then worked part time out of the school district technology office going to all the schools in our county to train teachers for 6 more.
I read 5-6 Apple centered blogs daily and keep up with new software by watching videos thru ScreenCasts Online -- which is a marvelous way to keep up with the latest Mac and iOS stuff. As I said, it's my main hobby now so it's fun to keep up.
Hope I can still do that in a few years --- crossing fingers. ![]()

I taught Home EC for 30 years.

@Nuttmeg - I didn't know that! Or if i did I've forgotten, which is quite likely ![]()
Do people look at you like you're strange too? People generally don't think Home Ec and technology are compatible.
How did you get interested in technology?

I was introduced to a Mac computer by the clerk from the HE department in the late 80's. LOL, I traded in my sewing machine hobby for a MS DOS machine. I then moved on to Windows when it hit the market.
I do not think people understand the Science (Technology) in Home Ec.
LOL, I do not think folks understand that mature ladies know a RAM from ROM.

I love that you love what you are doing! Volunteer work doesn't always have to break your heart. Here's to another 40 years!
I keep up with BlackBerry technology via the CrackBerry website and the YouTube videos put out by BlackBerry.
On another note, I bent the pins in my BlackBerry tablet this week. I'm always so careful. My chair got caught on the cable and yanked it out. I hope our IT department can fix it.
