I lost my wi-fi and after a call to my local ISP people, they told me to call Dell. To avoid that I'm hoping this is simply a case where I hit the airplane mode key by mistake. Problem is I don't know which one it is. This is a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series with Radeon and Ryzen stickers representing the guts of this thing. My old Dell had a big A on F2 key, this F2 key shows a speaker. There is a big A on Prt Scr key. Neither one worked.

Until you get an answer, this may help.
I have Toshiba, there's a little icon near my on/off button.

@depglass - This is what I found by googling the issue:
"You need to hit the “Fn” button on the bottom left of the keyboard first, and while holding the “Fn” button, just hit the “F2” button and whalla – your wireless card will be turned on (enabled).Jan 17, 2018"

Check in the online manual or your hard copy, there should be a little summary table of each function.

You can get out of airplane mode without a key. Do you see a little airplane in the lower right hand corner of the screen? Click on that, then click on the green airplane mode box and the computer will reconnect.

Option 1:
1. Open Action Center (Windows Key + A) A window will pop up with the airplane mode icon
2. Click/tap on the Airplane mode quick action button to toggle on or off.
Option 2:
1. Click/tap on the network icon in the taskbar notification area.
2. Click/tap on the Airplane mode button to toggle on or off.
Option 3:
1. Open Settings, and click/tap on the Network & Internet icon.
2. Click/tap on Airplane mode on the left side, and turn on or off Airplane mode on the right side.
3. When finished, you can close Settings if you like.
Airplane mode issues can be of different ways. One might be unable to turn off the airplane mode as its toggle indicates the function is unavailable for the time being. Few users might not be able to activate the wireless connections as they are not willingly glued to the Airplane mode. And there are situations where Airplane Mode turns on automatically refusing other wireless devices to perform correctly. So, we provide you different solutions to try for the above mentioned Airplane Mode issues. So, let us head towards the main topic and see How to Fix Airplane Mode Issues in Windows 10.
How to Fix Airplane mode not turning off in Windows 10:
Solution 1: Change Network Adapter Properties
1. search for Device Manager in Start Menu or Cortana and open it.
2. Make your way to the Network Adapter section and expand it by double-clicking on it.

So @depglass , several posters gave you suggestions to resolve your issue with your wi-fi. Did you use any of them and did you get your wi-fi back?
Just curious to know what happened.
