We were informed my DH's Tracfone is going out of service soon. Mine is an LG 840G Ive had for about 6 years,I'm going to give him. Anyone happy with their Tracfone smart phone? I would appreciate any advice and comments.

We had a very basic Tracfone given to us about 9 years go. Earlier this year we were told by TracFone that they would no longer support it. Trac Fone said they would give us a replacement of a a higher 'G' model. They sent us one without charge and it is a much better phone than we had before. Check with TracFone to see if they will replace your old one for free.

I am on my 3rd Tracfone and will never go back! Yes there have been a few minor glitches but for my usage which is mostly text and talk (in that order!) it suits me well.

Here's what a great company Tracfone is. I bought a new smart phone, an LG Sunset from HSN in March. I was never able to use it. I was locked out and they could tell me how to fix it. So after my last 45min session, they said they'd replace it. I sent it to them and what did I get as a replacement for my smart phone but an old piece of reconditioned junk that was older than the phone I was replacing.
I ended up having to buy another smart phone and this time I got a Samsung, which is more user-friendly than the LG. Now Tracfone is trying to cheat me out of service time, only giving me 6 months on the new phone.
I've about had it with this company.

As rolen said, they sent us a replacement phone for free. I don't usse mine that much but it works fine.

@Kachina624 - I've seen you post this on another thread. I'm curious as to why you didn't just return the phone to HSN for a full refund, if you could never use it?
It states pretty clearly on the Tracfone website that they will replace phones with either a new or refurbished phone, at their discretion.
My DH and I have had nothing but Tracfones for the past 15 years and have never experienced the kind of problem you have. I did buy the last LG phone HSN offered and couldn't get service here (it was AT&T). I returned them to HSN and we purchased the lastest LG Premier that QVC offered (through Verizon). Love the phones and have had no problems with them at all.
As to your lost service or minutes, contact the Miami Executive Resolution Office (1-800-626-4883) and tell them what's happened. I would also explain that you had a brand new phone and they've sent you an old one. Way back (about 14 years ago) a CS rep at the regular number managed to wipe out all my existing minutes and service and I got it sorted out by calling this number.
Personally, we love LG phones and don't like Galaxy, but that's just a personal preference. And we also love our Tracfones. We do everything online now through our own accounts.

Why should/would anyone expect a Service Company to replace hardware bought from a retail vendor? First there is the retailer where it was purchased. Second there is the manufacturer that made the phone. Last time I looked, Tracfone is not competing with Samsung/LG etc. They are a service company.
Now I have no clue what the problem might be with your particular phone, but the percentages are greater it is not with the service provider, but whomever manufactured the phone.
If I have a problem with my TV set, I don't expect Dish Network to fix or replace it, unless they sold me the TV set. Again, I haven't seen Dish advertising selling TV sets, only service along with their necessary hardware.
Maybe I am missing something here, I don't know. I have had many Tracfones, of several different brands and models. All of them have worked from flip phones to several smart phones.
My most recent LG Sunset got eaten by on of the charges(a Lab) on my wife's last Pet Sitting job, it now does not even turn on. I wonder if Tracfone will replace mine? I think not, but I do plan on reactivating my previous phone, which Tracfone will do for free. That is all I do and should expect from them, not a free LG Sunset.

@hckynut were you happy with the LG Sunset before the Lab wrecked it?

My Samsung phone was expiring, but I still had over 4,000+ of all 3 usages. Mine was a much older Samsung, but was a smart phone.
When my mother-in -law died, this was her almost expired LG Sunset, so i decided to put my leftovers onto her Sunset. I never got a chance to use it, and my wife was trying it out to see if it got a better connection from her Pet Sitting location thannher Boost Mobile.
It did, so she was taking the Sunset to her sitting jobs in lieu of her Boost Mobile J7 cell phone. She left yesterday for a 7 day in home sitting job. I will ask her how much she used it before it became the Lab's snack.

I am on my forth Tracfone - this one is from HSN and is the LG power, which they don't have anymore. My DH just bought the LG treasure that they seem to be featuring now. He is happy with it. I prefer to purchase my tracfones from HSN as they have a fabulous customer service # if you have any issues - esp. with set up. I would never consider going back to a contract phone.Tracfone is all we need since retiring.
