Which Laptop Brand to Buy?

Looking to purchase a laptop for my husband who is not computer savy at all. He likes to take lots of pics and put them on the computer and is also a facebook junkie lol. I am looking for comments/ideas on which brand to buy relatively inexpensive $500-750 price range. I have owned Dell and Gateway and have had probs with both. Dell support seems to be lacking while back in early 2000 Gateways support was awesome. We have never owned an HP but may be interested in the TSV early preorder for Saturday. Anyone have any input?
