Re: What is the process a laptop goes through?

Uh oh. The pending payment just dropped off my credit card. Order still in process. Is there a limit to the time a pending payment can stay on a card?

Re: What is the process a laptop goes through?

I think that just represents the 'check' to make sure the charge is legit.  Then, when the order ships, you will see the actual charge for the first payment.

That's pretty standard stuff, especially with larger orders.   They need to make sure that the charge can be made before continuing to process the order.

Limit-wise, as to time period, I think it's an automatic thing that it just shows for a short period, then drops off since it's not an actual charge.

Glad to help.   Hope it ships soon!  Smiley Happy   I never really did a lot of the girly girl stuff, but I like the electronics.

Whenever I order a new computer, Tivo, or something like that, I can hardly wait until it gets here!  You spend a bunch of money and want it NOW!  I know I do.   Smiley Happy

@Bad Wolf FYI after a sale of a Dell computer.

This is a link to a Dell Support Page.

Please check the Retail Registration, Limited Hardware Warranty, and find the service manual.

Re: What is the process a laptop goes through?

Thanks to all of you for helping stay insane through all of this.
I have daughters ages13 and 14 who have 2 unshakable beliefs about me.
1.I am a computer genius.
2.I am older than dirt.
They love talking tech with me but can't ever tell when to believe it. I really think I have them convinced that my first computer was made of wood.

@Nuttmeg Thank you for your suggestion. I bookmarked the page and downloaded the svc manual. I thought that I already had it but only had the user manual and quick start guide.
One thing that is a surprise to me is that I have to open the case to get to the battery. I guess that is how they keep them nice and slim.

Re: What is the process a laptop goes through?

Received one of the computers on Thursday, a day before the tracking said it would get here. Was caught very much by surprise.

The second one got caught in the hurricane path and didn't get here until Monday.

From a relatively short time that I have had them I am very impressed. They look beautiful. The performance is very quick. I am very happy with my purchase. The wife is too.
Here's what we got :
Dell 13" Touch 2-in-1 Laptop - Intel i5 8GB RAM256GB SSD

Thanks for all the support.

@chickenbuttI did order aDell from QVC once.  I don't remember how the delivery went, but I don't remember being upset either, so it was probably my usual 4-5 days to wait.  That laptop was my only computer for 5 or 6 years and I got great Dell tech service the one time I needed to call.  I'd order again if I needed and the price was right.

By the way -one of the tech gadgets I bought which I really don't much like is my Amazon Kindle Fire.  Nothing about my experience with it makes me ever want to buy another when this one dies -  although I might buy one of their dedicated readers.  Still, Amazon lost its magic with me when I bought that Kindle.

@millieshopsI hate changing the subject, but why don't you love your Kindle?  Which model do you have?  I absolutely love mine.  I have a few.  LOL
