What Accessories To Buy For An iPad

After all the rumors about when the new iPad was coming out it will finally be available in November. I can't tell you how long I've waited for this! Never having owned one I'm unsure what accessories I need. I want a (smart cover?) that wakes and puts to sleep the iPad. Do I need a keyboard? Is there a cover that combines a keyboard and the ability to wake the iPad? Do I need a stylus? Do I need a sheet that protects the front of the iPad? I don't want to get taken advantage of by the salesperson trying to sell me things I really don't need.TIA
