It will be on with the screen fully lit and all is normal , but if I turn it on it's side it shuts off. Check the setting - the setting is on for it to rotate. This phone will be 2 years old in december - may be time to start looking for a new one.

Sounds like you may have activated a shortcut in your Accessibility settings. It's easy to do this by mistake in some phones by pressing and holding the home button and the volume button at the same time.

But you've given too little information to do more than guess.

In what app is it doing this?

Does this still happen if you turn screen rotation Off and then rotate your phone from portrait to landscape position?

Are you saying it shuts OFF, or just goes to sleep?

You may have a proximity sensor or motion sensor that is darkening the screen.

Please be generous with info when describing electronics.

I had to turn off the rotate feature to keep it from turning off the phone . weird - but something I can live with. I have found these LG tracfones to have about a 2 year life in them.
