I have an HP laptop that came with Microsoft Edge, which I find very annoying. I'm not a "heavy user" of various programs but do spend time online every day.
About a week ago, I was looking in Settings and whatnot and perusing the security options. I clicked on a thing or two and didn't write down what I changed.
Since then, I'm having trouble signing into some sites I frequent, including an online calendar and a couple retailers ..... I just can't sign in. In one case, the button doesn't respond to clicking.
So, just for the heck of it, I tried another browser, Chrome, and could get into each of those sites! I have no idea why ... or what I could have done on Edge to block myself out of sites I visit.
Does ANYONE here have any theories as to what I did to my Edge program that blocks me from frequently used sites I've bookmarked and have cookies installed? I don't even know where to begin to un-do whatever it was I did.
No suggestion is too obscure ..... please give me some ideas .... and TIA! ![]()

@Tinkrbl44, there are so many options that you could have changed the easiest way would to do a system restore.
In all the all settings search box type in restore point. Click on create a restore point.
A box will open. Click on system restore. When the next box opens--restore system files and settings--click on next.
There should be a list of one or more restore points. Click on the most recent one prior to you making the changes. This will roll back your settings to their previous state.
It will take a while to complete but unless you can provide more guidance as to what you may have changed is probably faster and safer than going another route.

I was also going to suggest a System Restore for Win10

You'll read that dooBdoo, mine and more posters, from days ago, with different problems in THE QV's system. Mine is Android.
I click on and ( MINE) - there IS NO SIGNING on....... my NIC is frozen at top RIGHT just by going to home page.
Had to change NAES with a number 1 after. Before that [THEY] had my oldie from 2011.
What a mess. If you scroll around topics, there are OTHER "WHAT HAPPENED", or similar to many ??? changes.

I kept turning off the commputer....had to turn off about three times and then, my chrome browser became available. See what happens for you...I have a Dell Computer and use chrome as my browser. Must have hit the wrong key when I turned off the computer last night. PS make sure you have downloaded the Chrome browser. when all else fails that it to the geniuses at Best By and pray you get someone who understands.

@NAES1, OPs problem has to do with using her Edge browser to which she made changes. Additionally, she stated she is having the same sign in problem at other sites.
Her problem is related to the Edge browser on her device since other browsers, to which she did not change settings, are working as expected.

This won't help but I got a new HP laptop last summer and I refuse to use Microsoft Edge. I only use Chrome, but the Edge keeps popping up now and again. I close and go on about my business.

@Tinkrbl44 There aren't many settings that you would have changed in Edge. I just looked at mine, when you go to Edge, click on the . . . (three dots upper right) to go to settings, drop down to settings, There is a reset settings. Have you tried that? Hope this helps.

I took a look at my settings because I don't think I ever changed them. The tracking prevention is set to Balanced. By any chance did you change yours to Strict? It says that parts of sites might not work.

@Tinkrbl44 I have an HP with edge and had a very similar problem last week. For some reason I could not download anything from websites or log in to others. I could go to my credit card and bank site but once I logged on, I could not download any activity.
Just a lot of dumb things happening. I called my grandson as he was the person who set up the computer. He walked me thru several things to check but could find nothing out of place. Finally he had me clear all history, cookies and cache for the last week, then have the system to shut down. we left it down all night and in the morning when I turned it on, all was good no problems anywhere. The computer fairies fixed it.
It's worth a try.
