Bing is the search engine from Microsoft.
Whether MS is dodgy or not is debatable.

I'm confused. Are there 2 threads on this topic? I thought I already read one that had a bunch of responses on how not to install programs from pop-ups? What is the correct truth now?

I think what happened is something else from a fake adobe website gave you that prompt. The real adobe would not put malware on your pc

All I had to do was delete the Adobe update. I had not clicked on the "suspect" pop-up that followed it because I knew it was bad the minute I saw it. Once I deleted the update, the bad pop-up disappeared and has not been back. My computer is once again running perfectly.
Much appreciation and thanks to those who really tried to help. No appreciation or thanks to those who chose to lecture and humiliate.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if these creeps who develop the mal-ware programs put their brains to good use?

I just downloaded adobe flash player from their website and have no problems at all. I have 3 Macs and none of them get viruses - perhaps you downloaded from a bogus website

With all due respect sincerely, you started 2 threads with a big warning and bad info and I think posters only tried to set the record straight since Adobe wasn't at any fault. I did it before and my face was red but I was glad for the correction and apologized for the mistake. We all make them.
