Verizon’s Yahoo sold. How will this affect AT&T email?

[ Edited ]

*Verizon sold its Yahoo subsidiary. How will this affect AT&T email? Yahoo was bought by some company named Apollo. I looked into the company on Wikipedia. So far, nothing has been mentioned anywhere about AT&T email that is powered by Yahoo.

Does anyone know anything about this?

*Sorry, major typing boo boo was there. Verizon was not sold. Verizon's Yahoo was sold to Apollo. This could include Yahoo Mail, but there's been nothing released about this detail yet.

I understood Verizon sold Yahoo and AOL.  Why would that affect AT&T email.

@Zhills If you use ATT for your internet service and have an @att.net email address, the email is serviced through Yahoo.  I log into my ATT email using Yahoo.

Verizon wasn't sold. It's doing the selling. They sold both Yahoo and AOL, which were purchased in separate transactions, to Apollo Global Management, which is a private equity firm. They're going to retain 10% equity in both though, and it'll be rebranded under the name Yahoo.  How that all shakes out following any regulatory manuvers and requirements is quite a ways down the road. The deal isn't expected to close until the second half of 2021.

Internet-based email is in large part supported by advertisements. If it's still making money, the email service will continue, whether company ownership changes or not.
