Re: Upgrading to a new iPhone

It's not cheaper to upgrade your phone. My current iphone has a trade in value of 50 bucks. I'm also paying a lower monthly bill because my 2 year contract expired. If you're paying the same to be in or out of contract you're over paying now days. And personally I can't get by on only 16 gigs.

That is definitely not true. The reason I have not upgraded from my 4S is that my contract ended over a year ago and I have been on a month to month program. ATT gives me an awesome deal whereby I only pay $50 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data.

As soon as I upgrade (even to the iPhone 5) I have to enter into another 2 year contract with at least a $100 per month bill. I am holding onto my "outdated" iPhone until it no longer works!

You don't have to go the 2 year contract route. You can pay for the phone 100% upfront or you can pay it off monthly with AT&T next. The higher monthly service fees for contract phones are basically to make up the difference because they give you a discount on the up front price.

Re: Upgrading to a new iPhone

I think the point here is in some cases we've saved money when upgrading to a new phone. (My Post #4, for example.) It's always a good idea to research the possibilities, because sometimes we can have the same, or lower, costs with a newer phone.Smile

It's always a good idea to keep up to date on what plans your service provider offers as they change all the time. Most people only notice those changes when they purchase a new phone because the sales person will generally also address your service plan options.
