Re: Update on Ipad and WiFi dropping

[ Edited ]

@SouthernBee @don't you hate when one company blames another instead of trying to deal with the issue.  I found Apple like that when I bought my new MacBook Pro and had issues.  When you pay that much for something you expect good service.  The issue was resolved in the end but only after I threatened to take them to small claims court.

Since all of my products are in the Apple ecosystem, I stay there.  I like the flexibility and ease of use.

My brother bought the Fire tablet at @Kachina624 's recommendation and he loves it.  Uses it mainly for downloading series and movies to watch.

@gardenman , good observation on what the connection issue might be.  LM

@SouthernBee The products are very different. It's such a personal decision and if you are really invested in purchasing books from Amazon, that might be the best way to go.  I rarely purchase ebooks.

@cindyNC : Thank you. I don't read as much like when I was single. I enjoy having a few different Bible apps and being able to adjust whatever to make it easier to read. I was interested in the low price but concerned about a smaller screen. Will probably wait for a Black Friday deal to see the price for 10 inch screen. Yesterday really wasn't feeling good and not doing anything but when DH was using the IPad for several hours wished that I had another tablet instead of the very small smart phone.

@Lilysmom1 : Thank you and totally agree. The iPad issue has really been frustrating. DH prefers his computer. He previously made jokes about me and my IPad but quickly changed when he needed something else to watch all his sports. He doesn't want an IPad and just prefers to use mine.😃

There are definite differences in the two products and the iPad is nicer, but the iPad Mini (Apple's 8" tablet starts at $499) while you can get the 8" Fire for $49.99. Is one worth ten times more? Not to me. The 10" iPad starts at around $329 which isn't bad, but having used a 7", 8", and 10" tablet, I just find the 8" to be the ideal size for me. And at the $45 I paid for it, it was a very good deal. And bear in mind, your old iPad is four years old while the current 8" Fire tablet is two years old. The 2020 Fire tablet might just outperform your older iPad (2018-ish). Technology moves quickly. The 2022 one coming out in October likely would outperform your older iPad. Neither would outperform a current-gen iPad, but you're used to your old one.

The 10" Fire tablets are nice, but I just found it a bit bulky. (Mine was the 2017 version.) They typically get marked down around 50% (to around $75-$80) for Black Friday and Prime Day. The new 8" ones likely won't get a markdown for Black Friday since they'll just be on the market for a few weeks then, but probably will for next year's Prime Day and I may opt for one then if they truly seem better. For now, I'm happy with what I've got.

Re: Update on Ipad and WiFi dropping

@gardenman : I searched on line and my local BestBuy has the Amazon fire tablet for the same prices as Amazon. Hopefully will be able to go there soon and use one to decide and waite for a good sale. I appreciate all your information and help.

My ipad drops the wifi as well.  I figured it must be where I am sitting when I use it.  Sometimes it goes for a long time without dropping then it starts acting up again and it's so frustrating.  Maybe it's Apple.

@Snoopp : My WiFi drops all the time. I have had the iPad checked and Apple said internet problems. Several calls and visit with cable company. Last week the cable tech checked the router, replaced the modem and added one more WiFi extender and problem continued and said it was a problem with the Apple iPad because the cable company has done everything for the internet . It is very frustrating. I hope you can find a solution for iPad.
