thanks for all your replies and feel free to chime in with your experience, finally decided on the HP Pavillion 15.6 8GB, 1TB laptop with touchscreen... hoping it is a good purchase.
retiring my current Dell with similar specs, but it's a 17.3 which is sooooo very heavy and doesn't have the touchscreen.
will keep you posted with my experience

AMD is a low end processor, and you'll find most electronics using AMD processor to be less expensive. I agree with you as far as AMD for graphics. That does rate high. Most computers that developers use have AMD graphics card, but will have Intel installed for the processor. I think most gaming equipment, like Xbox,,etc. have AMD graphics cardOn 12/1/2014 Lynnj said: Since my other comment got so long, I will comment on the Q computer here - that comouter had an AMD processor. While it did have the AMD 10, one of the higher capacity processors AMD offers, AMD overall makes a cheaper end processor as opposed to Intel who makes another version of processors. Personally I try to stay away from anything that I see has AMD processor. The electronic was always cheap, in terms of cost, and I never had long lasting good results with it. Intel is the way to go...but per my comment in above post, you need to make sure what you are buying is a recent Intel, processor. The AMD processors actually rate a tad higher overall than the equivalent Intel processors, and rates significantly higher in handling graphics. The only processor I've ever found to be a complete dog was the Intel Celeron processor when it was first released.
