Hi @bargainsgirl, let me try to help.....

To confirm, you have the stick plugged in to an HDMI port on the back of your TV and have it plugged in to an outlet also?

Which HDMI port are you using, (they are usually numbered)?

Do you know how to access the other input sources on your TV?  specifically the HDMI...

Have you connected it to your Wifi?  You'll need to network security password, do you know what it is?  Once connected to Wifi, you will need to setup the device.   Here is a video:

Be sure to press the "Home" key on the remote to wake up the Fire Stick. (It looks ike a house/home.) Mine sometimes takes a couple of pushes.

I did everything they said...confusion with HDMI  ...Just plug it in after you turn on tv? Does it matter which HDMI outlet?  Does it automatically connect to wifi?  NOTHING comes up on the screen.

problem solved.  I got it set up. Now one more question...just click power button to close out or do you need to "sign" out???

Thanks for all the help!  The video from Amazon did the trick!!

I have a tv that isn't a smart tv so I'm interested in the fire stick. I'm not a techie, so forgive me for not knowing the solution for this. I have my tv hooked up to a cable box, the box is plugged into an HDMI port. I know you plug the stick into the other HDMI port and can power it with the adapter plugged into the wall or directly into the tv itself. I figure you have to switch source mode to HDMI2 but not sure how to do it. I'm assuming the stick doesn't switch it automatically. Do I have to switch it using my tv remote? When I want to go back to viewing tv through my cable box do I have to switch it back to HDMI1?

There is a button on your TV remote, not the cable remote, which allows you to chage the input.  It's the input (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) you need to select to watch different sources on your TV.  You will need to change the input if you have a DVD player or gaming consule connected as well.

@glb613, thanks for the advice. I think I’m going to give this a try, it’s only $35 at Amazon. I was wondering, if you have to download apps  are some of them free?

Not all the apps are free.  Some require a "subscription."

If you "jailbreak" your Amazon FS, everything is FREE!

I have been "researching" FS.  I have a 2 yr contract w/my cable co, so I have plenty of time to "take my time."  So far, I have learned that at this time, you cannot "jailbreak" Roku FS *yet.*  From my understanding, it's because it has more FREE apps than the Amazon FS & is far better regarding its ease of use & especially its user friendly interface.
