Tracfone minutes, tests and data never expire with active service. So it's important to purchase another service plan before the old one expires.

@SilleeMee - What @Ainhisg is trying to warn other customers about is exactly what I noticed, when I checked out this phone last night.

Others have run into this issue before and there have been complaints about it.  They haven't had their minutes and texts transfer to the new phone.  Because this is an "unlimited" phone for the year (with the exception of data), there is no point in transferring minutes or texts.

If you transfer your existing number to this new contract plan phone, I don't think you'll get the lost minutes and texts back, if you try to switch back.

People need to research the issue and make sure they know what they're getting before they switch plans.  For me, the prepaid with the option to add texts and data, as I need it, is better.

@Venezia

I see. So the TS would be good for someone who is brand new to using Tracfone and has nothing to lose.

@Venezia thank you for clarifying. Yes, it is my understanding that if a person switches back to a limited minute phone, then they will have no minutes or texts to move back to that phone, because there are none banked on this phone. Data would be a different story.

Like you, I'm much better off with the limited plan like I have now where I can just add what I need or purchase a new phone with bundle from one of the shopping channels where everything will roll over to it.

@Venezia @Ainhisg @SilleeMee : In June I purchased the Samsung A54 5 G FHD with unlimited talk, text etc..  That was a good deal when purchase.I have been a tracfone user for several years. My Samsung A10 E was almost a year old but battery very slow and a lot of problems.

I forgot to research the unlimited deal. My unused talk and text was not transferred but my service end date was extended to 10/9/26. I love this phone . I have small hands and it was only like 1/4 inch longer.

TO CLARIFY:

According to the presentation this morning with Tina,  if you currently have a Tracfone, your service will FREEZE until this new activated unlimited runs out.  Then your current service will kick in.  She was very clear about this.  I just renewed my service , text and data, and my phone is not quite a year old so not sure if I am going to get this but it is tempting!!  It is a great deal.

Forgot to say that I have NEVER had a problem with my service date, data, talk and text switch over to a new phone.  I have had Tracfone for at least 10 years...

I've been waiting for a Tracfone TSV, but I prefer Motorola phones.  Not really interested in Samsung, so if nothing shows up by October, I'll just add a year of service to my and DH's phones.

We have had both brands and we like Samsung better.  This is a great deal!

@bargainsgirl I wouldn't trust Tracfone to freeze minutes for a year and then apply them to this phone or any other.  lol  Would any of you?  Really?  And wouldn't the year of service be up at that time unless you switched to another phone before the service time was up? So you'd likely have to buy service time even IF the minutes/texts/data were transferred correctly.  I watched the presentation, and around the 10-minute mark is where Tina talks about this. She said you'd have to call Tracfone to get this done.  Sounds like nothing but a headache to me especially when she said you'd have to call Tracfone to request this.  No bueno.

I like moto phone better than Samsung phones, but I do buy the higher end (if there is such a thing) moto phones that Tracfone offers.
