Tracfone switched like a charm!

and YES! TransferWizard is still around and worked like a charm!

The Tracfone Activation from my old Samsung Sky 7 to my new Moto G6 took less than 3 minutes..no glitches, no need to call CS, worked perfectly.

Transer Wizard took longer, a lot longer than that, but I was transferring a lot of files..like 20K + messages (I should have just deleted most of them!)

So far everything seems good, didnt have to manually transfer anything (yet) but I am still checkingthings out

There is a learning curve with any new device, though this one seems a lot easier than going from my LG to the Samsung...

I  think the Moto actually transferred a lot f my apps before I even used the TransferWizard

As suggested, I activated new phone first before the transfer..

Re: Tracfone switched like a charm!

TracFone vendor mentioned using the Transfer Wizard in a recent presentation, so I was puzzled to see that post saying Wizard was no longer available/working app.

Glad to see that was just a bit of misinformation. Hope that poster edits that out, since people read past TracFone threads looking for help.

Do I read you correctly?

Did you transfer text messages from one phone to another? @Mothertrucker

I'm not worried about saving contacts or photos since I store them in Google's cloud and can access them that way.

But I'm hanging on to an old 3G TracFone smartphone because I need to save the texts.

Re: Tracfone switched like a charm!

@x Hedge yes, I was surprised- ALL my messages transferred!

and this Moto G6 seems like a pretty cool phone, I must say..the fingerprint ID is SOOOO much easier than trying to see and punch in a code  (especailly in bright sunlight!LOL)

It also has Dolby sound...

Oh, need to go outside and see how my Ring doorbell works with it!

Re: Tracfone switched like a charm!

I haven't received mine yet.  I love my Apple Iphone and will continue to use it as my primary phone.

However, I've found myself leaving it at home as I head out to run errands.  It's often too late to run back and get it.

At my age, I just don't feel right riding around with some kind of phone available.

So, I bought this as a backup.  I intend to keep it in the car.  I'm going to get me an Apple Watch so I won't need to have a phone with me all of the time.  Until I decide which one I want, this backup phone will be good.

I asked my son-in-law who's an electronic wizard if it would 'burn up' being left in the hot car.  He said, "No as long as you don't leave it on".

He has several phones he uses for various things and he leaves them in the car sometimes, so he knows what he's talking about.....I hope!  Ha!

I'm a talker and texter so I need to make sure I don't go crazy (with limited amount of time on it).

I'm also going to get me a new iphone (mine is a 6) but (like everyone in my life) I put it off.  No reason, I just put everything off....

If you looked up the word "PROCRASTINATOR" in the dictionary......you'd see my bright shiny face as an example!

I'm another one who sometimes forgets to take a cell phone with me...maybe because i know  whoever i'm with they  have their's.?

But..now that i'm closer to turning 79  and sometimes..ok i? have balance problems  /or back spasms/pain.....i need to change my habits...

like taking a walking cane w/me if needed..

and a '"cell phone..".!!!

regardless if i'm by myself walking..or with someone else!

Re: Tracfone switched like a charm!

@cowboy sam  I am usually alone in my car.  I meet my friend I eat with several times a week before and after we've each run our errands.

I feel like it's a good thing I'm alone.  I have so many 'pet peeves' with people driving!  I'm constantly talking to myself (out loud) in the car.

What's with all of these people riding in the left lane all of the time!  It's called "the passing lane", but evidentally they didn't get the 'memo'.  The go so s-l-o-w-l-y you can't get around them.

The area I live in are either 2 lanes (one each way) or 4 lanes (2 each way).  There's no getting around them.  So I throw fits!  Ha!  I seldome beep the horn (it's rude and I don't like it).  I think they're more of a hazard than anything.  It would be fine if they'd go the speed limit but they (believe it) go below the speed limit.

Anyway, I keep thinking....'wait til Amazon gets here'.  The Washington, DC area has terrible traffic any time of day but 'it's a'gonna' get way worst'.

I can't imagine driving to and from work.  There's no reason for the government to make their workers come to work at the same time every day.

Whoops!  Just realized this is about cell phones!  Once again I've totally gone off topic.

But to tie it all up....THAT's why I need a cell phone...Ummm...to ensure I'm safe because I'm almost always alone!  There's I fixed up my bla bla blathering....

Love you guys for putting up with me...Heart
