My husband brought his Tracfone up this morning and the screen was black with a message in English and then in 5 other languages underneath. The message stated that there was a virus on it and that all data would be deleted. I got the phone to shut off as it wouldn't do anything. My husband only uses his phone for phone calls. He never has used any other feature in the past year since he bought it. It is not an Android based phone. I got in touch with Tracfone and they reset his phone with the same number and minutes. They were going to investigate this further. Super great CS rep. and less than 10 minutes to do so.

We have used Tracfones for about 15 years with no problem. I did put an antivirus on my new LG Ultimate 2 Tracfone. It is CM Security and it also takes the junk files off safely.  I read online Android phones can get a virus.

I also have WhitePages ID that blocks scam calls and unwanted calls easily also.

Just trying to help us stay safe as we would be lost without our cell phones.

Re: Tracfone had a virus today

Hopefully this was an isolated thing that happened to my husbands phone. His has a new flip phone by Alcatel from Wal-Mart. I thought he was kidding when he said he had a virus. Maybe Tracfone can trace how it came through on his phone. He couldn't get the phone to shut off but somehow I got it to. I did a Chat with Tracfone online and it was great not having to use a phone and type back and forth.
