I'm being put on a medical information sharing program. Today a young nurse called me to set it up.

Nurse: What kind of smartphone do you have?

Me: Android.

Nurse: Who is your carrier?

Me: Tracfone.

Nurse: Tracfone? What is that? I never heard of it.

She refused to accept Tracfone for the program and offered me some other alternatives.

Wow, guess that nurse doesn't get around much.  Tracfones have been around for a looooong.  And very popular.  Strange.

TracFones may have been around for a long time, but unless you're in the market for a pre-paid phone, or watch QVC or HSN regularly, then I think it's understandable for people not to have heard of them.

Tracphone is not a carrier. It is a prepaid, non contract mobile phone provider.  They only provide the phone, they use carriers for mobile services.

Your carrier is probably Verizon,T-Mobile, AT&T or Sprint. Verizon and At&T are the most polular with Tracphones.

My Tracfone did not go down today at all. My husband's Consumer Cellular phone did.
