My Tracfone data minutes that came with my phone a used up and I need to purchase more.  When I purchased the phone I got triple minutes for life.  I dont have a problem with purchasing more data minutes but I am unsure of how to make sure I get the triple deal.  Any suggestions??

Re: Tracfone Minutes Purchase

I've purchased minutes at Walmart and at the Tracfone website as well.  My phone also has the triple minutes for phone, text and data.  Once I contact tracfone to add the minutes (I have an online account with tracfone) they are automatically increased to the triple amount.

Hope this helps!

I purchase online - it's VERY simple - the minute you enter press - your phone will tell you the minutes were added.  They have several packages you can choose - if your phone was triple minutes when you bought it - it will automatically give you triple minutes on everything.

Re: Tracfone Minutes Purchase

If you only need data, you can purchase data on the TracFone website. Data does not triple in this case...what you get is what you get. If you buy minutes for your phone, they are tripled and the tripled amount is added to talk, text, and data. For example, 400 minutes becomes 1200 talk minutes, 1200 texts, and 1200 mb of data.

If data are all you need (meaning that you have adequate talk and text minutes, as well as length of service days remaining), purchasing a data-only card is the most economical way to go. These cards are available online and at most chain grocery stores, drugstores, discount stores, etc.

For instance, if you buy a standard Tracfone card, you will get triple minutes, text, and data, as well as time extension. For about $80, you will get a 450-minute standard card that will give you 1350 minutes, 1350 texts, and 1.35 GB of data, as well as 90 days of extended service.

If all you need is data, a 2GB data-only card is $30. No service extension is included in a data-only card. If you need more data, there are many data-only cards, starting at $10 for 300 MB up to $50 for 4GB.

Go to tracfone.com to see all your options. Click on Pay As You go down the page on the right then click on SEE AIRTIME CARDS. All the options are there that show price & what you get.

.    I always purchase a new phone, so can't help you with your question. Just curious how many "mb" of data came with your phone.

My wife has Sprint monthly bill for $35, which is: Unlimited Talk/Text and 1gb of Data.  She is always using her phone and I have yet to see her Data go over 350mb in any of her months. She has been on this Sprint plan for several years, and 2 Samsung Galaxy S phones. She now is using an S5.

Using Data via Wi-Fi does not reduce her 1gb of Data. She has no problems finding wifi, and she is in all parts of our city, and even in other states when she picks up Rescue Boxers to transfer them from 1 state to another.

Strange if your phone came with 1250 or 1300mb of data that it would run out. Oh well, maybe you somehow are in non-wifi zones wherever you live, than were my wife uses her wifi, thus no Data reduction.

They have $10.00 data only cards at my local supermarket, Shaw's. They don't triple data only minutes. I love my Tracfone

Re: Tracfone Minutes Purchase

How do people get by with such limited minutes? I love some of the showing on HSN and HSN2, but when I saw how many minutes you get, it didn't seem enough. I talk to my out of state mom minimum 120 each weekend. That's 480 a month. I found a 450 minute card costs $80. My current phone is $60 with unlimited weekend minutes. How is this a viable alternative? How do you survive with limited minutes? Am I missing something?

We have a wireless home phone through AT&T that with taxes and fees...costs $26 a month.  It has call forwarding, call waiting, caller ID, unlimited local and long distance calls, etc.  We use that for all of our phone calls.  We don't have children, and I'm retired.  My husband works nights.  We do text but not an excessive amount.  My family and friends use Facebook a lot to contact me.  With the deals I've gotten from Tracfone, my average monthly cost is around $5 a month.  Add half of the home phone bill, and I spend $18 a month for unlimited calling and all the data (you can get wi-fi almost anywhere), and all the texts I'll ever use.  Right now, I have over 3000 minutes in each bucket, and my service doesn't expire until May of 2019.  It's not for everyone, but for someone like me who doesn't use a cell phone a lot, it is wonderful.
