I tend to agree it doesn't sound like it was all in fun.

Look at what the original post says:

"My friend who is a retiree probably late 60's was asking her teenage granddaughter how to do something on her i phone. The granddaughter was not being very patient and my friend wasn't getting it. Finally the child looks totally serious at her and says " Why do you old people buy these devices when you know you'll never figure out how to use them?"

If this is a true representation of the events, it would seem like a good chance to talk about stereotypes and also about courtesy, patience and empathy.

By the way, people can have a sense of humor and disagree about what strikes them as funny... and what doesn't. It's subjective.

I don't think anyone needs to "lighten up" or have "Humor Repair Therapy" when a teenager is this rude to her grandmother. This child needs a lesson in respect.
