Thinking about Windows 7

I will be leaving Windows XP yelling & screaming. I like having an OS I know, love, and hate occasionally. (Better to dealn with the devil you know........)

My step-dad suggested I may want to switch over before my current laptop (4 years old) fails so I am not having to learn a new OS "right now."

For those who have made the switch, what kind of learning curve was there?
