There"s a first time for everything!

I've had Tracfone for well over 20 yrs.(from the fliphone days)without any real issue until yesterday.

I bought a Samsung A23 5g from HSN. in May. so it's just a month old.Because I needed to to add my year.

Called Tracfone the issue is..I have to hit the apps and letter keys 5 or 6 times to get what I want.I can't get in settings I want to do a factory re-set.They want me to send the phone back in exchange for a referb!!!!!!!!!!

(10 day return policy to Tracfone..company policy is a referb.)

I don't want to send the phone back with all my personal info in it.

Samsung couldn't help nor could Verizon because the phone has a Tracfone SIM.

I filed a complaint with the FCC and the NYS Attorney General today..

Tracfone ISN'T allowed to say who the CEO is and couldn't give me a supervisor.

Sorry I needed to vent!

@Jo1313    Did you just activate the phone, or was it working OK since May?

Re: There"s a first time for everything!

@Jo1313   I had an issue with my month old Moto 5G Stylus bought here earlier this year.  It would not come on and was stuck on the Moto screen and they unlocked it once then it happened again a week later and they could.not reset it so they said to send it back for a replacement.  I said I do not want a refurbished one and they assured me it would be the same model and brand new  and would come within 5-8 days.  In that time an envelope came saying I had to return the one I had first but I explained that  at the time I could not walk or drive to return it because my knee went out.  I also could not send it until it was turned off as they stated.  I asked if they could send a postage paid label with a box showing Lithium ion battery that should be mandatory but I talked to at least 4 different people and one said they would  but it never came.  Another CS person said they had a phone reaey to send but could not do it until they got mine back!  in the meantime a son of a friend somehow fixed it so no need to send it back.  There is a site where you can post such stories and maybe get help and there are a lot of things happening and many FCC scomplaints filed.  Everyone person I spoke with there all said they were supervisors and there was no one above them!  They should be able to check onl the phone and try to reset it on the prompts.

I now never turn my phone off and it is fine now.

Good Luck!!

@Jo1313 Sometimes retailers are helpful even if you didn't buy from them.  I would put on my best smile and go to a local retailer, make sure the staff is not busy (maybe go at a time you think they are not busy, like opening time), and patiently wait for someone to offer help and tell them you have a phone that you purchased elsewhere that you want to reset, but that you would rather not send it in, cand they show you how to do it.  And then see if they will help.  I have done that with other things with success.  I am very patient to make sure they are not busy trying to get a sale, and ask in the nicest way that I can.

@Jo1313    Try your best to get your phone fixed even if you have to pay.  I returned a phone once and what I got in return was an antiquated piece of junk.  I just laughed and bought a new one.  No way would I have used what they sent.

I feel so bad for anyone going through this.  Some things you just can't fix.

Way back I bought an expensive (very expensive to me) phone from Motorola. It failed within about 3 months under warranty and I called and sent it back.

They sent me a $9 phone.  I called them,oh sorry don't send it back--and they sent me ANOTHER $9 phone. Turns out at the end of the saga I had about 6 of those in the trunk of my car in boxes and bought another good phone that worked.  Total loss.

My husband chuckled every time he opened the trunk!  Woman Frustrated

@Sooner    Sounds like we had the same experience returning defective phones.  These companies shouldn't get away with this practice.  In hindsight I wish I'd filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
