Re: Tablets --- do they do everything that regular computers or lap tops do?

I purchased my IPad about 5 years ago. Haven't used a desktop since. I take it with me when I travel as I can buy time by the month if I choose.

Have no use for a smart phone, use an old flip one and buy minutes, no wasting money on a plan.

If you had a smartphone you would not need to take the i pad with you everywhere because the phone would do what the i pad does.

@151949. I take my tablet with me when I travel. I didn't say I take it everywhere. I don't need to pay a charge every month to have internet on a phone. I rarely use a cell phone. The tablet is paid for. No more charges unless it goes on vacation which is a one time 30.00 charge.

If I had to use a phone for whenever I am on the Internet, I wouldn't bother.

I have an ASUS tablet and a laptop.   Entering text on a table is a pain in the neck.

I use the tablet as a spare Kindle reader and for browsing, checking email, etc. The tablet was free with my iPhone ... I doubt I would have ever bought one.  But now that I have it - I do have a use for it.

@ALRATIBA, have you tried using a stylus for typing text on a tablet/iPad?  Because of my nails, that's the only way that I can type.

@ALRATIBA Asus makes a regular keyboard that works with the tablet by bluetooth and they make a case to hold your tablet & keyboard so they work like a laptop. I just sold my keyboard & case  - my tablet had previously died.

I use a stylus for short thngs like emails, etc.  But there is no way I'm going to sit and use a stylus for writing paragraph after paragraph of text.  I do I lot of writing and data entry.

As I mentioned ... if I didn't get a free tablet - I would not have ever purchased one.  Laptop and iPhone serve me very well.

I really wouldn't have a need for another keyboard.  My setup here is working well.  I prefer the laptop over the tablet.  I only use the tablet because it was free!

And, all my data is on the laptop.
