I want the touchscreen. Every place I shop in town when I have to sign the screen I always want to use my finger & sign a touchscreen. Not all are touchscreen & you cannot do it. I hate it. I'm always trying to touch the screen on anything I use since I have been using my iPad.

Just because manufacturers come up with some new feature doesn't make it a good idea .... or, for that matter, it doesn't mean it's an improvement.  Sometimes they just come up with new kwap to have a "new version"  (or generation) because there are those people that will buy anything, hoping to be "the first to have something new" even if it doesn't make sense.  JMO

I have to ask ......      Since you're always touching screens, how often are you needing to clean them?    They must get to be a smeared mess pretty darn fast!

Re: TOUCH SCREENS ON COMPUTERS?

I like mine, I don't use it a ton, but it's a nice option for some things, especially scrolling.

What's annoying is that my work computer is not a touch screen, so I'm always trying to touch it and it doesn't work.

@VaBelle35beat me to the reply. I like mine and miss it when I'm at work.

What I really like is the lighted keypad option; I keep it on even during the day.

How often do you clean your phone or tablet?  Same thing.

Re: TOUCH SCREENS ON COMPUTERS?

Our home is mouse free.  Our devices are all touch screen which makes them easily portable--even my 18" Samsung View.  In any given day it travels with me from the kitchen island to the livingroom sofa to the patio.

Re: TOUCH SCREENS ON COMPUTERS?

I would use a touchscreen on a computer.

I use Facebook, it's easier to scroll using a touchscreen than a mouse.

I've considered it.    It's not a replacement, but I would use both the keyboard and the touchscreen.

As technology moves forward, the touchscreen will become more useful and keyboards, not so much.  If you are an artist or designer, touchscreen is much easier to use.   Or a gamer, which I'm not.

I don't have a tablet because my laptop is always with me and I would never use a tablet.

As for a phone, I use a Blackberry type phone, so I never touch the screen .....  which is why I asked you about cleaning screens that must get smeared pretty quickly.

@Nightowlz

Really, "I say get with the times"?  To this techno-nut, touch is a regression not a progression. Touch-pad phones? Maybe. Tablets? What choices does a person have with them. Got a 65" 4k TV, which fortunately uses a cursor or voice-to-text. Not interested in cleaning oil of my TV screen every time I want to watch it. And then there is either sitting in a special chair or the up/down/up/down.

Thanks, but no thanks. This nut prefers anything to smudging up a screen bigger than my 10" tablet. I think "I am with the times", but "to each be their own", eh?   =^..^=

DH uses the laptop most of the time so I don't know how often he cleans it. My desktop is not touchscreen. I hardly ever clean my iPad screen. LOL!!! I really don't notice it. I think it's because I have the light turned down almost all the way because my eyes don't like it. If I noticed it I would clean it every day because it would drive me nuts. The laptop screen is easy to clean.

Re: TOUCH SCREENS ON COMPUTERS?

Yes, I would use it if I had it on my laptop.  I'm always touching the screen from habit of so much iPad use. As for cleaning, I clean my iPad screen about once a week, but it has never been problematic.
