Syncing new ipod touch

For some reason, I only get 350 songs out of 3500 on my new ipod. What am I doing wrong? Why won't the entire library go on when I sync?

I have a small ipod nano and now the ipod touch to replace my old large ipod. On the nano I only have several hundred songs. It seems as though it is putting the nano library on my touch when I want the entire library there. Any help?
