Switching from iPhone to Android--how difficult?

I currently have an iphone 4S, original iPad and a desktop iMac. I love the iMac and iPad, but I'm considering switching to an Android phone, possibly the Samsung Galaxy Note III. How hard is it to sync contacts, mail, etc. Also, I have an iCloud email account, but with the Android phone can I forward it to Gmail?

Also, if you own a Samsung Galaxy Note, how do you like the phone? I would like something that's easier to read than the iphone, but something that can fit in my handbag like the Galaxy Note.
