@gadgetgal613 : The original jitterbug flip phone was the best and easier to operate. The Jitterbug flip 2 is more difficult. The buttons are harder to push . Plus too much extra stuff on the phone.
DH does have some memory issues, big fingers and easily gets frustrated. He goes out every day for lunch. I try to tell him to turn the phone on when he gets in the car and it will be ready to use.He had too many contacts on the phone and I deleted all but the few needed. I wish they made a cell phone just to store a few contacts, make a call and nothing else.

You only need to use the features you want. I have an iPhone and don't use 1/3 of what it can do. I suspected some memory problems after reading the posts. That is a hard one since forgeting how to use a phone makes it far more difficult. When working with people who have memory issues, I use to as part of my job, making it as easy as possible is the key. Don't turn the phone off, let it hibernate or go into standby instead. Get into the habit of charging it every night so it's ready to go when he is. If you and your husband get into the habit of charging it everday, it will become a new normal. One of the best things for people with memory issues is routine. Doing the same thing every day becomes a habit or automatic task and less likely to be forgotten.

@gadgetgal613 : Great ideas and I agree and understand. But some people can be very stubborn and refuse to cooperate. Some days he is very good and some days just let him do what he wants. I do the best I can. I decided to help my budget and go with a less expensive phone and prepay plan.

@SouthernBee wrote:@Desertdi : Totally agree and understand. DH keeps his phone in his car and I have to tell him to bring it in to charge. 99 3/4 of the time when he is in the car: Phone is turned off and can't call him when needed. Pay $20 month for the lowest calling plan and he only makes 1 or 2 calls per month but I prefer him to have something for emergency.
Keep a power bank in the car!
They are not expensive but worth it! Easier to charge it and leave the phone in the car! Immediate power when plugged in!

I couldn't disagree more. I worked with the elderly doing Home Care and I can tell you, people don't fall or have medical emergencies near a landline. The same thing is true when driving. This is more than a phone problem, this is a memory or understanding problem.

I carry my flip phone with me. I never leave it in the car. I keep it turned off, wi-fi off and in airplane mode until I leave the house to drive my car when I turn it on and take it out of airplane mode. When I'm done driving and get home, I turn on the airplane mode and turn my phone off. That way I only have to charge my phone about once every three weeks.
