Spectrum receivers need rebooting often...

We had DirecTV for the last 5 years and got rid of it because of the high bills. I never had any issues with reception. We had Internet with Spectrum and they gave us a deal to 'bundle' that was about the same cost that we were paying just for the Internet...so we signed up since the price is guarenteed for a year and we can cancel anytime.

HOWEVER....now I am reminded WHY I got rid of Cable....constant rebooting the receiver. I thought that they would have fixed this issue by now.

We 'stream' with the Firestick on 2 TV's and I think we will be doing this on all TV's at this time next year...

Spectrum is just awful and it never got better...

@Nataliesgramma

I had Directv for many years. It was bundled with Verizon & the bill kept going up. Then they split with Verizon so I started looking elsewhere. I found a 2 year deal on Dish network. For half the price I now have HD and DVR. I love it. But here’s the part that gets me-Directv never offered me a deal. Why would they? I was paying premium price with old equipment & outdated service. When they were notified I was canceling all of a sudden I was offered these great deals. At this point it was too late as I’d already had the new dish on the house. Just about every week I get an email with a “come back” offer. Your year will go by fast & I’m sure you’ll get a good deal to go back to Directv.

It seems companies don’t care about their current customers. They just want new business. I think new & old, loyal customers that pay on time should pay the same amount. Don’t hook customers in & slowly raise the prices until they leave. Do something  to keep them before it’s too late.

mmm-just wondering, do you have the new, very small receiver or still the larger.  Since I have a new receiver(three weeks), I haven't had to reboot once and I was doing a lot with the larger one.

I think you are exactly right and it's a source of my frustration-I can see them wanting us to stay and pay more, but they know they are losing us in big droves.  This was true this year for me for cable,garbage pick-up and the newspaper delivery...

Re: Spectrum receivers need rebooting often...

DirecTV (and probably most companies) has a Customer Retention Department, however if they do upgrade you, there's another 2 year contract.    I'm trying to get away from contracts.

I'm thinking about going to Spectrum, what's the deal with rebooting?

I have to reboot my DirecTV receivers ever so often, same with my computer.

All electronics, even the ones in my car, need rebooting.

I try to proactively reboot on my schedule but if you can't do that with Spectrum and they randomly reboot, I can see your frustration.

You are not alone, and have put up with this ever since getting Spectrum.  However, after after all this time, I think I found the solution.  Believe it or not, if I do NOT leave the channel on QVC when turning off the TV, I have not had to reboot it since.

I know it's sounds crazy, but it works (for me).

@Nataliesgramma, OMG, I so agree with you! If I had any brains I would get rid of them. I reboot my box once a week because my DVR is temperamental and I never know when it won't record shows on a channel (happens on ABC, NBC, and CBS, and yes I have had techs come to look at it and they can't figure it out). Thank you for reminding me, I'm going to reboot the box now!
