@KBEANS : Thank you. I am using an older Panasonic phone. I will check this out on HSN.

@SouthernBee,  I also have an older Panasonic which I keep in silent mode.  The phone allows me to set a "group" that will ring through (like family or friends or medical) but the phone does not allow any numbers not on the list to ring through.

As others have said, if it is important the caller will leave a message.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

@Marp : Thank you. I looked up the user manual for my phone on line. I am very slow but finally have my group on the slient mode. It will be interesting to see if this will make a difference tomorrow.

@IMW : Thank you. I don't know what changed. Before averaged 5 to 10 calls a day but not the constant one call after the other. Plus was receiving calls on Saturday that started around 9 a.m.

I am praying that the changes that I made on the phone yesterday will make a difference.

Hope you will be able to find something that will help you.

Fingers crossed for you.

The ability to set a a contact group and make everyone else go silent might be the best invention of all time.  Much better for our nerves.

When you do need to accept a unknown number, like the furnace guy's cell, you can always turn it off.

Happy naps to you 🥱

@Still Raining : Thank you. I'm almost afraid to say anything. The house phone has been silent this morning. Only one phone call on the cell phone and it was blocked.

DH laughs when I post on the forums but I tell him that so many people are so kind and helpful. This morning he stated : Your forum friends made a difference this morning.😀😊

@Marp : Thank you for sharing about silent mode on the Panasonic phones. The house phone has been silent all morning.

@SouthernBee I've read:

1. Don't answer unrecognized #

2. Immediately push call block

3. Try to limit spreading of your phone #----calling many businesses you do business with and putting yourself on do not call list (AARP sells our info)

4. Don't be afraid of missing a call, it it's they can leave a message.

Good luck

@IMW : Thank you. I have done everything you listed. If someone insist that we give a phone number: we make one up using our area code.

We dropped out of AARP because our mail box was always full of something from them plus numerous emails everyday.

Still zero phone calls from the house phone today.
