Someone That Can Help With The Touchpad

I have an HP laptop....has worked wonderfully up till about a month ago....when I want to click on anything....and I mean anything...I have to tap it several times before I can move to the next place....this happens no matter if I am on a website or my e-mail...

Anyone have an idea why this is happening....it is so frustrating that I find I don't come on my computer as much as I use to....and I love my computer...just too much of a struggle...
