Smart Switch and Transfer Wizard

I have a Samsung and just upgraded to the Motorola G7.  I am having trouble with the Transfer Wizard app.  Can I use Smart Switch to transfer my photos and contacts or must BOTH phones be Samsung?  Not sure why the TW app gets stuck at  a certain page and gets stuck.  Tried downloading it 3 times....

You don;t need to do transfer wizard, just go to google, and google will transfer everything for you. when you set up your phone google has you sign in and then it will transfer everything contacts. photos etc. I really don;t know why they push the wizard app.

I used Smart Switch and transferred from Samsung to LG with no problems.

I have Google but I am NOT tech savvy!  How would I transfer?  I checked my account but see nothing about transfering data.  Any tips?

Happy to say when I set up my new Motorola, Google automatically took over and guided me through a transfer!!  Simple and complete!  No need for Transfer Wizard or Smart Switch.  Thank you!
