I was using someones computer so just sent a quick message. I called a local computer store that was recommended to me and high reviews. Right now my computer won't go past a page that comes in and says errors. No Firefox or Edge. It's been running slow and just figured having it checked out would bea good idea. First time I had to take a computer in so I have been lucky for years.

I wonder if there's a virus...??

Please let us know what the computer store says what's wrong. I would like to know myself.

I picked up my computer today and my speed is a lot better and higher. They had to replace the palmrest, DC jack and battery The pins cracked the plastic where it was plugged in. When I left it they plugged it in and their charger had the same error as mine at home so I knew it wasn't my charger. They did take the restore back to April, I did it to May but it didn't work. There were two errors in the computer but they didn't say how they fixed it other than the restore. It did cost more than I wanted to pay but it seems to work like new. My speed by the modem was 366 on the battery and in the room I use 80 feet away it's 170 plugged in. I'm happy I took it there because the CS was good and the warranty on parts. The right side of the mouse was sagging and was told that was because of the battery which is below it and hasn't worked for a few years. I had been looking at new computers but would like to wait and get a new one when Windows 10 isn't supported anymore. Hopefully everything works fine until then. I wish I could shadow someone at the repair shop and learn more about computers.

Glad to see it's fixed. @kismet
How old is your computer? Probably need a new one anyway if it's older than 5 years. Just for the cyber security of a new computer alone would make it worth it.

Sillee Mee, My computer is 6 years old. I got it for a very good price at Costco years ago so paying to have it fixed was worth it. I just checked my speed on the other side of the house and it's 199, that's really fast for me. The repair man said he checked the whole computer out and found nothing wrong with it except it had errors. Said my hard drive was good, they asked if I wanted to change to a SS but since I know it won't be supported more than 2 years I declined. Now I'll be looking for a new one just in case this goes out again so I'll know what to buy. I'm the type of person that I have to check things out and not buy anything. I'm looking for a new TV for the bedroom also since mine is maybe 8 years and know someday I'll need a new one. It has such a beautiful picture I hate to have to replace it. My husband still uses his Dell from 2010 and the battery is still 3 hours when charged. I asked him if wanted a new one and he said no. I had to use it several times while mine was gone and it's heavy and slow. I have the same one and it will power up but the mouse doesn't work even using a corded mouse. I asked the repairman about that and he said he never heard about that problem. I want to get my photos out of it and he said I can do it without having to use the mouse so will do that.

I also have looking for a new computer as my HP is 5 years old. I just ordered a HP Windows 11 (already installed on it) with 512 SSD,12 GB ram, 15". laptop with a backlit keyboard at Staples online. I didn't want a touch screen. It is in silver and cost $669.00 on sale. It was selling for over $900.00 so I kept watching for a sale. It is on sale all this week.
Since I have a Staples card (not a credit card) I get 5% rewards on their site, I used my own credit card and got a reward of 2%, and a 2% through Mr. Rebates. It will be here on Thursday this week. It also is Intel i7 11th gen which will work great with the rest of the specs.
I didn't get a choice of a color but it is ok as I just want a new, fast and reliable computer. My HP I have now is a 17" in rose gold and I never used the touch screen at all on it. I like using a mouse.
Just wanted to post as I have looking for a laptop with the specs I wanted as well as a good deal. Can't wait to get it.

I bought an amazing fast new HP 15"computer at Staples a few weeks ago. Here is my review:
I have never had such a great computer. It cost $669.00 on sale but was worth every penny. It starts up in about 5 seconds after entering your password. The screen goes off when you close the lid and opens back up in a second when opened. In the setting screen is the shut down app. Windows 11 is nice and user friendly but I did change a few settings to make it my own. The updates downloaded and installed within 5 minutes and my old computer took an hour to download 2 updates and this did 10 updates that fast. Loved that. The sound is great and the screen and webcam are both crystal clear.
You Tube has many great videos to walk you through how to set it to be user friendly.
I have been waiting for the forums to come back up to post this.HP Pavilion 15-eg0167st 15.6" Laptop, Intel Core i7, 12GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Home. You can use a mouse also as I do as I do not like a trackpad.
Hope this helps as the reviews are awesome also on Staples site.

I bought a new HP All-In-One desktop about a year ago and I love it. It's incredibly fast and has a fantastic picture and sound. It even has an optical disk drive which is usually not part of many devices these days. I would buy another HP. Mine has been very good to me so far. Glad to see that you are enjoying your new HP.
