Setting up Samsung Galaxy Sky Tracfone

Can I put the battery into my Tracfone, and power it up without having to register it right away, or must I go ahead and register it for usage after adding battery and power?  I don't want to do it right now but want to see how it looks ready to go.  Thank you.

Re: Setting up Samsung Galaxy Sky Tracfone

Absolutely!

I always, with a new phone, insert the battery, charge it up, and then try out the features (sans phonecalls, texts, of course).  I set up my settings such as ringtones, notification tones, google account (using wifi), and add apps I want to try out, all before I register it and obtain the minutes and phone number, just to make sure the features work properly.   Then once I'm satisfied the phone works okay, I go online and register it and receive my phone number.  Then I make sure to try out making and receiving calls, making sure the person whom I call can hear me clearly with no problems, and I also send a few texts to make sure that feature works okay.  Just a quick reminder, if for any reason you're not satisfied with the phone and want to return it, be sure to do a factory reset to remove all your personal data before you send it back.

I have two Sky's. I use one exclusively and keep one for backup. You can't beat the 16 gb internal memory.  Its a super phone, you'll love it!!

I always test drive, so to speak, a new tracfone before loading the minutes.  I checkout the features to see what's different.

@Naneen@GCR18What great information!  I have my Samsung sitting waiting for me to put it together.  I have days on the phone it's replacing (not a Tracfone) and was waiting a few weeks to test the Samsung closer to when I'd register it.

I should have asked!

I know this thread is from a few weeks back when the Galaxy was the TSV, but does anyone remember how many days they gave to register it?  I can't find that info in the included info.  TIA -  Millie

@millieshops,
They always say "activate anytime", weeks or months.
But of course the QVC 30 day return is in effect.
If you hav WiFi you can check out some of your phone's operations in that 30 day window without activating it. The one year of airtime that is bundled with the phone won't start to countdown until activation.

@x Hedge TY -  I have been playing with the phone, but I'm not quite ready to activate it.  I do know about the 30-day return policy but I thought I had heard the vendor say there was a time limit on activation also.

@millieshops, when you DO activate your phone be sure to follow the "Welcome Guide" steps and use the phone number created exclusively for activation (or website).
