Samsung Galaxy tablet

Right now our local ATT is offering a free samsung galaxy II phone if you purchase a samsung galaxay tablet 16gb for 467.00. Now my daughter wants this particular phone. My question is since I am looking for a small tablet, would this be a good deal and is this tablet a good tablet to start out on.
