SD cards - What's the difference?

I shopped for "SD" cards for my new camera today - and found a large variety of prices for the same GB on the card. Are 'name' brands any better quality than the "2 in a pack" I purchased for $14? By the way, it said SDHC Card 2-Pack SanDisk , #1 Global leader in Flash memory Cards" on the pack.
