I have ring doorbell.  The inside chime connected to the doorbell has stopped working.  It is 3-4 years old.  Has anyone else had this happen?  I did some research and you can replace the chime part.  You can also use Echo Dot or any Alexa device as well.

I have the doorbell linked to my iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch so I get notices there.

The Chime itself is pretty cheap.

If you have others in your home that need the notices the Chime may be helpful if you don't have another device in your home.  I also have the chime which stopped working after more than 3 years.  Since I have 2 dogs a doorbell chime is not needed.  I always know when someone comes to the door. LOL  If we aren't home we simply check the alert on the phone.

I called Ring once with an issue, and they were helpful over the phone.

If you have dogs, sometimes they are the chimes, right?  So funny, but my dog never barks when someone is at the door.

You could leave the current Ring in place and add one of the door bells with a transmitter in the house.  They seem to last forever.  I have one with two transmitter, one for the front rooms and one for the bedrooms.  You just plug everything in, no biggie installation.

@Kachina624 @sann @Another new name Sue @mimomof4  I think I will see how I like it without the independent chime...at least until I return from vacation.  Too many little jobs to get done before I go.  I have kind of resisted the idea of Alexa.  I don't really like inaminate objects talking back to me, although I love my Apple Watch.  LM

@Lilysmom1,

You would probably like Alexa. She can be entertaining. Right after Christmas I was deep cleaning my kitchen and I asked Alexa to play some soft easy Christmas music. She agreed and then said "tiny I can tell you are cleaning"." I have wonderful cleaning tips, just ask". LOL. I once told her that she knew where I lived and what the weather is so I want to know where you live. She said," I live all over the world".Woman LOL

Have you unplugged it?  I found out yesterday, it you unplug it, you need to reconnect it to your wifi internet signal.
