Recommendations Please for a Cell Phone for.....

Smile My 80 year old uncle! I don't want a cell phone, nor does he, with a "plan," like my iPhone. He'd like a pre-paid phone for emergencies and calling his daughter and friends.

Last year, here in the Northeast we had a 4-6 day blackout in the Winter, and I was unable to get in touch with my last living East Coast relative. He's smart, and just sold his car, so he's home...but does do some consulting on the side, and is now in a wheelchair. I had no idea he'd lost his power, until the Boston Police were kind enough to check in on him for me.

I drove down to find him without food or enough blankets which I took "just in case!" I've been to several stores like Best Buy, but unless I want a Smartphone or iPhone, I get little service, or questions answered. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

They're sold everywhere, but I want a good one with range, camera, and enough minutes to start that I can rest quietly that he is safe. One too that is not SO complicated that he'll not use the phone. Suggestions would be appreciated. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup} His daughter, my cousin, just re-married and moved to Seattle.
