We just installed a ROKU and have HULU with Live TV.     We keep losing the broadcast and get a green horizontal line running across the screen.  Sometimes the program comes back and sometimes we get a red screen that says 'connection lost'.   Then we have to go back to home page and start all over.

Any idea what's going on?

Maybe you need to upgrade your internet or router?

Check downdetector.com.  Find Hulu under companies.  You will find information on downtimes and what others are experiencing.

DH said we might need a new router.  Ours is old.  But we don't have that with everything, just some programs.   Maybe it's the time of day.

I wonder if Sling TV, Xfinity Instant TV, YouTube TV, Play Station Vue etc.   have the same issues?

From time to time I have had issues with Hulu and Sling TV. Buffering is becoming more of an issue with so many live streaming.

If you do not have a fast internet connection, you will have buffering and/or interruptions.  Especially if you are using an OLD router.

Firesticks works best when you have high speed internet connection from a cable company instead of just using only "wi-fi."

Thanks.  Our internet is with Xfinity and it's 450mpb's I think.   They said that should be plenty for two people with 4 devices.  But our router is really old so we'll look in to a new one.

The strange thing is that if we try to watch Hulu Live TV through our Roku, we get lots of buffering but we can watch any Hulu Live TV through our iPhones without buffering.  So, we're wondering if it's the Roku .   Thoughts on that?

It's either the Roku or your wireless network.  I was having problems with poor picture quality and buffering with my Apple TV.   My router is located next to my TV so, I decided to try connecting it with an ethernet cable and the problems stopped.  I have since purchased a better router but, I decided to continue to use the cable.  If you can, try connecting your Roku with a cable and see if the buffering stops.  Chances are, you need a better router.

Every device I have works better since I bought a more powerful router.  With everything wireless, it's a must.

@Bridgegal   I have Sling and have no problem with it.  I also have Roku and most of the time it's fine too.  Never have had the problem you describe.  I have a Firestick on my bedroom TV and do occasionally have trouble with it downloading.  It's at the furthest point from the modem.  I got a booster device (Amazon) but really don't have an electrical outlet between the TV and modem that is suitable.
