Questions about Time Machine

I'm trying to make one of my eternal hard drive searchable.  The problem is, I used it for my Time Machine backups and it won't let me use the drive.  Is there a way to transfer the backups to a different external drive and delete the ones created on the drive where they are currently located?

I have a 4TB external hard drive with a LOT of files and folders.  At least half of the folders are date stamped or named for the date it was created.  That happened due to a program I was using with my older iMac.  I'm trying to find all of the movies I created and stored and going through hundreds of folders is too time consuming.  I want to be able to search for all .mov files.  Thanks.

I don't use Apple products, but they should have something similar to Windows. I open Windows Explorer to the file location I want to search, then enter the file extension, such as mov, into the search box. All the files with that extension should appear.

In Windows, files can be transferred between drives using Windows Explorer. I would copy them to the new drive rather than just moving. That way I can make sure they're in place in the new location before deleting them from the old.

To make finding files easier, rename them and/or add keywords, and organize them in folders.

Apple probably has a way to do similar functions, so maybe someone here can help explain how.

I finally found the information I need.
