Question on the Q App.

I have an iPad and did load the q app but usually I just browse around the site for what I need and want. My question is every once In a while when I log in on passworded iPad I see a message that qvc (or some other app) has an update but of course once I log in I do not see the message, is the message email wise or from the app or? Never have figured it out.
