The back,of the new tv will be labeled. Buy an HDMI cable. It is so much easier. Since you are not changing the box, and only the tv, the hook up is even simpler.I went to Best Buy in the pouring rain and got my new tv. Now I hope I'll be able to connect the base to the tv, the salesman said it wasn't hard. I ended up buying an HDMI cable because it seemed easier. The saleman showed me were I'll have to plug it in the tv and just plug the other end into the cable box. One thing I wanted to say is be prepared and know your prices before you purchase something. The tv I got had a price of $199. I said to the salesman I think I saw online it was $168. He checked and sure enough it was $168 on line! I got it for that price but if I didn't know about it I would have been charged $199.
I am glad you got the TV, and the better price. Good that you spent time with him and had him show you how to make the connections. Getting the TV on the base is simple. Should just slide right on. I think you'll be impressed with yourself once you see how easy it is to put the TV on the stand and do the hook up. Keep us posted on how it goes.

With just the cable from wall to box and hdmi from box to tv gave nothing. I had to follow the cable company instructions and also run a coaxial from box to tv in order to get reception. Both tvs have input set on hdmi1 (which is the hdmi port into which the hdmi cable is connected).
HDMI does not replace coaxial. It replaces a/v cables.
I honestly have no reason to lie or just make stuff up so there is no reason to attack me.
I'm not attacking you but, a HDMI cable DOES replace a coaxial cable. Your TV and cable box must be old if you need to connect a coaxial cable from the cable box/DVR to your TV.

If your HDTV's input is set to HDMI 1, then the coaxial cable is effectively disconnected. It shouldn't matter if it's connected or not. (At least not to the HDTV.) When you select one input, HDMI 1 in this case, then all of the other inputs are effectively disconnected and the HDTV should only be receiving an input from the HDMI 1 input. It really shouldn't matter if the coaxial cable is connected or not, unless the cable box has some quirk built in that requires the coaxial cable to be connected to something, it should work fine without a coaxial cable. It's kind of like saying you can't use your toaster unless your blender is plugged in. It shouldn't matter if your blender is plugged in or not, unless you've got some really quirky appliances. Maybe your cable box is a really quirky appliance, but there's no real world reason why it should have to be connected to the HDTV via a coaxial cable if you're using an HDMI cable. Of course, there's no real world reason why you even need a cable box at all other than cable companies' greed, so maybe they've built in this quirk for some reason.

You're not going to get Netflix through the cable box.

I you want Netflix on your TV you need a streaming device. There is a smart TV, a smart Bluray player or a Roku box to name a few. The device needs to be able to connect to the internet. And unless the internet is in the same location as the TV, you need wireless.

I have to say I'm quite proud of myself! I was able to attach the stand to the tv and I did hook up my new tv to my cable box. I used a HDMI cable. This may not be a big deal to most of you, but to me it was a big accomplishment.

Good news.
